What is AmealPeptide®?
AmealPeptide® is derived from casein (milk protein), and consists of two lactotripeptides -- Valine-Proline-Proline (VPP) and Isoleucine-Proline-Proline (IPP) -- that have been shown to help reduce blood vessel constriction, which helps blood flow more freely. These lactotripeptide sequences exist naturally in casein. However, they are not released in the gut by the action of digestive enzymes. They are released by proprietary hydrolyzation and enzymatic processes developed by Calpis Co., Ltd.
AmealPeptide® won the FIE Food Ingredient Research Award in Europe and the IFT Industrial Achievement Award in the US.
How does AmealPeptide® work?
Elevated blood pressure can be caused by various factors, one of which is a biochemical reaction that causes blood vessels to constrict, or narrow, causing blood pressure to rise. The unique lactotripeptide combination (VPP and IPP) of AmealPeptide® has been shown to reduce blood vessel constriction, helping blood flow more freely, which, in turn, keeps blood pressure in a healthier range.
What are the benefits of AmealPeptide®?
AmealPeptide® has been evaluated in more than 20 published, clinical studies, which have shown that it helps maintain blood pressure at healthier levels. Clinical tests have shown a significant effect on both systolic and diastolic blood pressure after three to four weeks when AmealPeptide® is taken on a daily basis.
The efficacy of AmealPeptide® has been studied in humans with high to normal blood pressure (SBP 130 to 139 mmHg, DBP 85 to 90 mmHg) and mild to moderate hypertension (SBP 140 to 180 mmHg, DBP 90 to 105 mmHg).
Is AmealPeptide® an approved drug?
AmealPeptide® is not a drug. Rather, it is a branded combination of two lactotripeptides derived from casein (milk protein). Additionally, AmealPeptide® is self-affirmed in 20 GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) categories presented to the FDA, confirming its safety related to use in the food supply.
Will AmealPeptide® interact with prescription medications?
Customers with questions are encouraged to talk with their doctors before taking AmealPeptide®. 16 clinical studies have shown it to be safe. In fact, more than 430 million units of AmealPeptide® have already been sold worldwide.
Does AmealPeptide® cause side effects?
A number of studies have been conducted with AmealPeptide®, but no significant side effects have been observed, even in large doses.
Can people with lactose intolerance or milk protein allergies use AmealPeptide®?
AmealPeptide® is derived from casein (milk protein). The remaining lactose is under detectable levels (less than 0.05%). Also, the milk protein is degraded during the production process to an undetectable level. Though there are no reports of any issues with lactose intolerance or milk allergy, customers are encouraged to talk with their doctors if they have questions.
Who manufactures AmealPeptide®?
AmealPeptide® is manufactured and has been sold worldwide by Calpis Co., Ltd since 1997. Calpis has manufactured and sold fermented and cultured milk-based products since 1917. Its innovative microbiological technology is at the forefront of global scientific achievement in lactic-acid fermentation processing. The company was the first to isolate the lactotripeptide AmealPeptide® and the first to discover its usefulness in lowering blood pressure. Calpis' commitment to scientific rigor is evidenced by the number and breadth of human clinical studies conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of its proprietary AmealPeptide®. That’s just one of the reasons why many companies have chosen AmealPeptide® to increase the value of their heart-health products.
Is AmealPeptide® kosher?
AmealPeptide® has kosher certification and is manufactured under the supervision of the London Beth Din Kashrut Division (KLBD).
